Bohemian Brew, Khar - Review

Just next to Oh Calcutta in Khar is this new little place. Honestly, it didn’t look very appealing from the outside but once we got in the place looked lovely. We reached a little earlier than dinner time and thus found the place vacant. I loved that, it was like the place was open just for us.

It is a very well thought out place, they have indoor and outdoor seating area, a basement sort of a place, where you can unwind with the tea they brew for you – read a book, work for a while, have some ‘me’ time, organise a small get together, the place is great addition to the restaurant. The indoor seating area has a very bohemian vibe, of course they had to create this ambience owing to the name of the restaurant.

The outdoor area also continues the bohemian ambience with a lot of green thrown in. It was pleasing to the eye to see so many plants around. They also have a small indoor place for when you want to go out for meals with around 10 people. They allow hookah/sheesha there as well.

Now coming to the food and the teas.
They have tons of tea options and I am sure you’ll find something that you’ll love.

Watermelon and feta salad with Thai dressing was amazing.  I love watermelon and cheese both, this was the perfect combination of both, I could make a meal out of this.

Fermented Tea Leaf Salad was interesting, lots of leafs and healthy ingredients to make you feel like you ate a lot and still not put on any calories.

Spicy cheesy kuboos stayed true to its name and was cheesy and yum.  The dip that it came with was interesting, the perfect blend of flavour and spicy that you need.

Chicken meatballs in Gouda sauce again is my favourite. Served with bread, this can be filling so I suggest you share it with your friends if you are planning to eat other dishes too.

Prawn calamari with lemon butter ajillo sauce again, was very interesting. The prawn did feel a little tough and not as soft as I am used to having them. I am not sure if it is supposed to be that way or if they were just a little undercooked, they didn’t feel raw though. The gravy with it was yum and I suppose will go well with plain rice.

Roasted garlic and mascarpone risotto was yummy! It wasn’t super cheesy but just the right amount. Just the way I like it.

Cottage cheese steak with Ratatouille was something I had never tried before. It’s a lot of cottage cheese and again can tend to get a little heavy. But it is yum none the less.

Moroccan chicken Tagline with preserved lemon and apricots, THIS is the star dish for me. They serve it with a slice of pickled lemon and you are supposed to have a tinny bit of it with every bite. It completely changes the taste of the dish. Have a bite without the lemon and then taste it with the lemon, it’s like having two different dishes!

Cranberry ice tea is the only beverage I tried. Refreshing and just the right thing to have after this heavy meal.

I wonder why they don’t serve alcohol; it will be nice to have a cocktail with this delicious meal.
